The National Water Conservation Program aims to rationalize the water consumption in the Kingdom. The importance of this program stems from the fact that Saudi Arabia’s water consumption per capita ranks among the highest in the world, and this is in conflict with the environmental conditions of the Kingdom. The average water consumption in the Kingdom is 263 liters per capita per day according to the National Water Strategy, while the objective is to reach 200 liters by 2020 and 150 liters by 2030. In order to achieve these targets, this National program was created and tailored toward changing individuals’ behavior, and raise the overall awareness of water conservation benefits.
