Dr. Dong Suk Han
Dr. Dong Suk Han, an Associate Professor at Qatar University in Center for Advanced Materials (CAM) and Department of Chemical Engineering, is also a graduate faculty member in the Material Science and Technology Program. With over 25 years in environmental and chemical engineering research, he specializes in Water Environment and Energy, focusing on nanomaterials and physical/chemical technologies like adsorption/membrane separation, (photo)electrochemistry, and advanced oxidation/ reduction processes. Dr. Han is an Editor in Desalination and Water Treatment (Elsevier), Editorial Board Member of Desalination (Elsevier), and Associate Editor of Frontiers in Chemistry. Dr. Han’s research is supported by various prestigious entities like the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF-K), U.S. Department of Energy (US DOE), US Geological Survey (USGS), Qatar National Research Foundation (QNRF), Qatar Fertilizer Company (QAFCO), Qatar Shell GTL, and Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement (KAIA), and Korea Water Cluster (KWC), currently focusing on CO2 conversion, hydrogen production with integrated desalination, (photo)electrochemical technologies, water-energy-food nexus technology, microbial desalination cells, resource recovery (such as lithium) from seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) processes using flow-through electrochemical systems, chemical production from Qatar’s energy-producing plants using wastes (CO2, wastewater, RO brine) with off-grid electrochemical systems, and solar-thermal-powered hydrogen production from RO brine or seawater.
